The Importance of Simplicity, Strength, and a Positive Mindset

My Journey...So Far

I'm Kirsty, originally from a small town in North Yorkshire called Whitby... although I have now lived `down South` since the year 2000 with my partner Eric and our four, yes four cats.

I've always been into health and fitness, but I'll admit, I took the scenic route to figure things out. Dealing with the weight loss rollercoaster since my late teens, I've done my fair share of diets and moments of giving up on myself. It's been a journey, but I'm finally getting the hang of it – better late than never, right? 😅

I have worked my whole adult life in retail management, so I know how hard it is to have huge demands on your time, trying to focus on yourself to make a change and then juggle this with a full time career.

Over the years I've tried every diet, shake & pill in the book and some more than once, you name it I’ve definitely tried it. It's tough feeling like you're stuck in a perpetual diet cycle, and no matter what, the weight just doesn't want to budge. Trust me, I've been there.

Along with the diets, I’ve also explored many different ways of exercising to improve my fitness. Looking back, I think I would've gotten better results if I knew how to eat right for the workouts I was doing.

In 2018, I made a conscious decision to fully commit to transforming my approach to fitness. I also recognised the importance of reshaping my internal dialogue, moving away from self-deprecation and doubt, and embracing the belief that lasting change was actually achievable.

I used to go to bootcamp classes and even tried out bootcamp holidays to kickstart my fitness journey. It was all good, but you know what really clicked for me? Strength training. That's where the magic happened.

I started feeling more confident in what my body could do, and I cut myself some slack on the food front. Instead of stressing, I made it a mission to improve by just 1% each day. Having a routine that wasn't super strict made a world of difference. It helped me build up some mental toughness and resilience. Small steps, but they added up!

I set myself some daily non-negotiables, step count, staying hydrated, and some nutrition targets - nothing groundbreaking, but the consistency this time was paying off. I also started to educate myself on a healthy body from the inside out - it's not just about how you look on the outside; it's just as crucial (if not more) for your body to be rocking it on the inside. 🌱💪

Skipping ahead a few years, life has levelled out for me, and I've found a more solid footing. Dealing with my inner thoughts isn't the uphill battle it used to be. Of course, perfection is a tall order, and I've made peace with the fact that I'll forever be a bit of a "work in progress" as my body evolves over time — and I'm totally cool with that.

I still have my simple daily actions in place, but it's part of my lifestyle now. The past few years have really changed my perspective on what's important in life, there really is no time like right now to improve your health - don't wait for tomorrow as it isn't always guaranteed.

This led me to where I am now, I hit a point where I was ready to wave goodbye to the whole retail scene. I just knew the time was right for a change. That led me to thinking about what I really wanted. And boom, the light bulb moment: health and fitness had to be front and centre in my next move.🌟

I dove into becoming a certified personal trainer, nutrition advisor, and strength & conditioning specialist because I genuinely want to assist others in navigating the sea of misinformation, trendy diets, and complex "how-to" routines saturating social media. My goal is to make health and fitness more accessible, stripping away the confusion.

On a personal level, I also saw this as a way to stay accountable in my own health and fitness journey. Aging gracefully is a priority for me, and by gaining these qualifications, I'm not just helping others—I'm ensuring I have the best shot at keeping my body active and strong as the years roll on. Plus, there are more qualifications on the horizon! It's all part of the ongoing adventure.

I then took things a step further and set up my own studio gym. Why? Well, I wanted to offer an alternative for anyone who's ever felt uneasy or just downright uninterested in the typical gym scene. With my own space, I can give my clients a more personalised experience, homing in on their goals without the hustle and bustle of a crowded gym. It's all about creating a comfortable and focused environment, educating my clients, and giving them my full attention.

My coaching is about more than just workouts; it's about keeping things simple and doable for the long haul. I'm all about lasting results, not just quick fixes, or short term gains.

No matter what you're aiming for, I've got your back every step of the way – not just during our sessions, but in everything you do.👊
